Valentines’ Day is right around the corner, which means everyone is obsessing about what to wear on that special day. Whether you are having a special evening with a special someone, or are living it up with your girlfriends, this outfit is perfect for a night out on the town. It is the perfect balance of fancy, sparkly, and comfortable to make your evening shine.
If I was into going out, this is totally what I would wear. Unfortunately, I’m too old for that, (haha,) and I’m more apt to staying home in my comfy clothes these days. If that sounds like you, then be sure to come back on Friday for a cute yet comfortable “staying-in” Valentines’ Day look… and no, it does not involve yoga pants.
Keep reading to see all the details on this fabulous Valentine’s Day outfit, and listen to me ramble precociously about why I hand-picked each piece. Let’s go!
Tahari ASL Glitter Stripe Satin Fit-and-Flare Dress — Purchase at Macy’s
What’s Valentines’ Day without a little pink and sparkles? This dress screams Valentines’ Day to me, without, you know dressing up like a box of Sweethearts candies.
Who wants to be uncomfortable on their special Valentines’ Day date? Nobody. This dress is great because the top is simple and practical, so you won’t have to worry about it falling down or slipping into an unbecoming position. It is not going anywhere! Plus, the full skirt is flattering on pretty much every body type, and there is plenty of room under there for a little pair of shorts without having to worry about the dreaded panty line or worse, your dress riding up in the back. Am I the only girl who wears bicycle shorts under her dresses? Can’t be…?
Jessica Simpson Malia Pumps in Black — Purchase at Macy’s
Since there is quite a bit of color and glitz going on with the rest of the outfit, I chose a more toned-town pair of shoes to go with the look. Of course, this look would be just as cute with a pair of black strappy sandals, but I just love a classic pair of pumps. The pair by Jessica Simpson is a reasonable height without being crazy skyscraper-ish, and the rounded toe makes it much comfier for that romantic after dinner stroll.
Heart Love Ring 5-Pack — Purchase at Aeropostale
What’s Valentines’ Day without the love? These darling stackable rings from Aeropostale are super affordable, and super cute. The rose gold color keeps with the Valentines’ theme and matches perfectly with the pink in the dress. Stack them all on one finger for a statement look, or spread the love among multiple fingers. It’s up to you!
Faux Pearl Layered Necklace — Purchase at Forever 21
It’s a heart; need I say more? This dainty double layered heart necklace is actually two necklaces in one. Since the dress is so simple on top, a cute accessory will help to liven things up, and what is more appropriate for Valentines’ Day than a heart pendant? As for the pearl, those are so underrated these days, but they can be a beautiful addition to any outfit.
Treesje Asymmetry Clutch in Rose Gold — Purchase at Nordstrom Rack
Finally, the clutch! A cute and functional purse can really take and outfit from, “Yeah, it’ll work, to “Yes! It’s perfect!” I knew I wanted something that would match the feel of the outfit perfectly, but still be able to hold more than just a tube of lipgloss, not to mention be comfortable to carry. This clutch is perfect because, obviously, the color, duh. Besides that, it is also has a wider body, which means you can actually put things in there that you need, like say, your phone, hand sanitizer, touch-up powder, an emergency tampon… These things are all necessary, yet there is just no room for them in those tiny, thin clutches. I don’t know about you, but I have no patience in my life for a wallet on a string.
That’s all for now!
