Ahh, May, or should I say, spring!
It’s that time of year when the weather is finally warm enough to step out wearing your shorts and sandals, without worrying about your toes attracting frostbite like you worry about the wool coats you recently stuffed into the back of your closet attracting dust bunnies.
Whew, long sentence. Kind of like the list of things I have to do today. I’m sure I’m not alone in that feeling, which is why I have put together this list of the absolute best, and easiest makeup products for spring and summer. With so much beautiful weather and fun to come, who wants to spend longer than they have to fussing with finicky beauty products? I sure don’t!
Keep reading for all the details on all the beauty products that I’ve been loving recently, and that I totally plan on binging on all summer. Ready, set, go!
Summer Glimmer — E.l.f. Smudge Pot in Gotta Glow
I have a funny relationship with gold eyeshadow. I have to be in a really specific kind of mood to wear it, and I can never seem to find just the right one that doesn’t make me look like I’m trying to disguise myself amongst the Egyptian pharaohs. Longevity is also an issue for me, as gold shadows tend to become one with my yellow-toned skin a bit too quickly for my liking.
Fortunately, E.l.f. has the answer, and for only a couple of bucks at that! This cream eyeshadow is the perfect pale gold shade that gives a beautiful, shimmery look to the lid without looking like an outright glitter-bomb. If you’ve been around the gold eyeshadow circus, then you know that it can start looking really tacky, really fast. And nobody wants that.
The best part? This stuff is basically waterproof– I’ve sweated my face off wearing it, gone swimming in it, wiped my face, (lightly, of course,) and the color was still hanging on for dear life. If you just want a simple look for when you’re going to the pool, then you have to try this! If you introduce one new product to your summer makeup routine, let it be this!

Summer Arches — NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette
I like lighter brows in my spring and summer makeup looks. My hair turns slightly lighter thanks to all the chlorine and salt I constantly immerse myself in, and I want my brows to match. Is that weird? Plus, I think slightly lighter brows just compliment more natural eye makeup better, since there isn’t such a harsh contrast.
I like the NYX Micro Brow Pencil because the formula is slightly drier. This means that when it is topped with a brow powder, (or matching matte eyeshadow) the combo is sturdy enough for almost any summertime activity you could put it through.
Try changing up your brow color for spring and summer; it’s unexpected and gives your makeup routine a fresh update for the season of the bronze.

Summer Dewiness — Urban Decay One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector
This product is a new addition to my list of ultimate spring and summer makeup loves. There has been plenty of buzz surrounding the UD One & Done lately, and for good reason. This is the perfect summer skin product.
If you’re like me and you’re not looking for a whole lot of coverage, but still want a subtle evening-out of blotchiness and freckles, then this product is for you. The finish is very natural, as the skin is not left completely matte. Yet, it is not unbelievably dewy, and it seems to control oil to a degree. I can just apply this and a light dusting of powder over my t-zone and I’m good for several hours without need for a touch up.
If you haven’t already tried this, I highly recommend it. It really does “perfect” your skin without looking like you have any makeup on. You still look natural, but better. Hope that makes sense. Now that I have this, my spring and summer makeup routines will never be without it!

Summer Glow — Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Okay, honestly I use this year round, but there really is no better all-on-one palette to give you all kinds of glow for summer. The three shades in this palette all serve a specific purpose, so nothing goes unused. This is especially helpful when you’re trying to justify packing it in your carry-on for your upcoming beach vacation.
I use Dim Light all over my face, and then I’ll layer Radiant Light wherever I want an extra bronzy glow. Incandescent Light is the perfect subtle highlighter, as it reflects light beautifully without looking like you intentionally piled a product on your face to fake the glow. The very subtle shimmer gives the skin an almost ethereal iridescence.
If you don’t have this, get it. Yes, it’s slightly pricy, but it’s completely worth it. I haven’t found anything quite like it, and you’ll use it year round.

Summer Skin — BareMinerals Blemish Remedy Acne-Clearing Foundation
When I’m wanting a bit more coverage, I’ll reach for a mineral foundation to layer on top of my Urban Decay One & Done. As long as I don’t apply too much, and spot conceal sparingly, I find that this technique provides the most natural coverage while looking beautifully un-makeup-like as possible.
I go for the Blemish Clearing variety because I am slightly prone to acne in the summer. This is thanks to my ultra-heavy sunscreen adding an extra layer of suffocation to my skin, but that is a necessary evil. If acne isn’t a concern for you, then the regular or oil control formulas would work best.
There’s no need to be afraid of powder foundation. When applied correctly, it looks as beautiful and natural as naked skin and feels super lightweight at the same time.

Summer Flush — Milani Baked Blush in Coralina
Coralina is a blushes that I really only wear in the spring and summer because it is quite bright and glittery. It looks out of place in the fall and winter, but it is absolutely beautiful this time of year! If you are timid with blushes and tend to go for the more demure colors, Coralina is a great start.
Coralina is a bright-ish pinky coral color with swirls of white and gold highlights and shimmers mixed in. It is a super unique color, and I haven’t come across anything that is remotely similar. The pigmentation is moderate, which is exactly how I like it. It’s pretty difficult to screw it up, which is an important factor for me since I have accident prone cheeks.

Summer Sheen — Almay Smart Shade Butter
Annnnd, finally, no spring and summer makeup collection is complete without the perfect lip colors. Personally, I always go with the moderately pigmented balms. I still like a splash of color, but when I am at the beach or at a family BBQ, I don’t want to worry about my ultra-pigmented lipstick migrating all over my face. (It’s happened, and it wasn’t pretty.)
These lip butters are super smooth, moisturizing, and are completely non-irritating, which is extremely helpful when my lips are sunburned, dry, itchy, and crusty because I forgot to apply a SPF lip balm in my frenzy to protect my solar panel of a forehead from the sun.
If you need a perfect lip color that provides color, hydration, and all-around comfort, go for these. The best part? They’re from the drugstore. Score!

What does all my Spring & Summer makeup have in common?
Spring and Summer makeup is a time to experiment with the glow. Even if oily skin dampens (literally, lol) your desire for “glowy” products, there are ways for you to achieve that beautiful dewiness without looking downright oily. It took me way to long to figure this out, but once I did, I’ve never looked back.
It’s all about that glow. Don’t be afraid! Up the glow-factor of your spring and summer makeup, and let me know how it goes!
That’s all for today!
