We can never have too many eyeshadow palettes!
Whether you are just starting out with makeup and need recommendations for starter palettes, or you’re a makeup buying pro and are hunting for the latest stars, this post is for you.
And the best part, all of these palettes are found at the drugstore!
You know what that means- great palettes at non-cringeworthy prices.
Now let’s get straight to my latest spring eyeshadow palette favorites!
The best everyday drugstore eyeshadow palette
A major problem with the drugstore eyeshadow palettes is that there just aren’t very many options in general, and that means the number of good options is even smaller.
For me, I think travel, basically all the time. For that, I need an eyeshadow palette that’s compact, has everything I need one place, and is amazing quality because the last thing I want is to ruin my mood and my photos with bad makeup.
Physicians Formula has got just the thing. The #Instaready Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Natural Nude gives you nine different shades, all in different finishes. This is huge.
It offers shimmers, satins, and mattes in varying tones so that you always have what you need to create a ton of looks.
Not to mention, Physicians Formula creates, in my opinion, one of the smoothest and most blendable eyeshadows at the drugstore. They make applying eyeshadow fun again.
Highly recommend this one.
The best colorful drugstore eyeshadow palette
Say you desire some color in your life, but you don’t want the hassle of picking out specific colors, and you just want something easy.
This palette from Milani is the best brightly colored eyeshadow palette that I’ve found at the drugstore.
What I love about this one is that the colors that you would probably want to be shimmery, are shimmery, and the colors you’d likely want to be matte, are matte. This makes it super easy to add a touch color to your everyday looks, without going overboard or feeling uncomfortable
For example, the pink, green, and gold are pretty shades for the lid. Paired with a neutral crease, they’re totally daytime appropriate.
As for the deep blue and purple, they may be a little too “extra” for everyday had they been shimmery. But as mattes, incorporating them into a soft daytime look is easy.
I suggest using these shades under the eyes for a pop of color. You could also place a small amount in your outer corner/crease area to give a neutral look a slight little edge.
The colors are pigmented and high-quality. You can’t go wrong with this one!
The best subtly colorful drugstore eyeshadow palette
If that last palette seems a bit much for you, not to worry, you can still add color to your looks.
The NYX Avant Pop! Palette offers amazing pigmentation in easy to use shades. You’ve got a peachy pink, a mauve-y purple, muted lavender, dusty blue, and olive green, plus a bunch of neutrals to blend in to your looks as well.
Unlike the Milani palette that is more of an accessory palette, this one provides everything you’ll need for a complete look. It passes my “Travel Friendly?” test.
Though this isn’t the most inexpensive option, the eyeshadow pans are huge, and the quality of shadows is outstanding.
The best shimmery drugstore eyeshadow palette
Sometimes you just want something extra shimmery. But surprisingly, despite the abundance of shimmery-looking eyeshadows, many of them aren’t really that shiny.
Often, you’ll end up with a kind of shimmery, satin, but kind of dull look on your eyes. Sometimes that’s a good look, but I often want more.
The e.l.f. Prism Eyeshadows look shimmery, and they really are shimmery. They are very pigmented and the product adheres well to the eyelids, minimizing fallout.
Like the Milani palette, (again) this isn’t an all-in-one eyeshadow look generator. Since the shadows all have shimmer, you’ll need a few matte shadows to complete the look.
Which brings me to my last palette.
The best matte drugstore eyeshadow palette
Great matte eyeshadows are notoriously difficult to find at the drugstore. Trust me, I’ve run into some terrible ones. I’m talking little bricks of color where no amount of scrubbing got any color off. Or super powdery shadows that refused to adhere to the skin and blended away into nothing. Awful stuff.
This compact little quad from Physicians Formula is nothing like those.
There isn’t a whole lot of shade variety here, but I think that’s a good thing. It means that every shade can be used for the same purpose: blending in all situations. Think of it like your little bible of transition shades.
If I’m doing a warmer eyeshadow look, I’ll use the slightly warmer top left shade as my transition shade. For a cooler look, I’ll go for the bottom right. And if I mess up? The lighter two make for perfect “erasers” for cleaning up around the edges of smoky eyes gone a bit wild.
Are you a fan of the “naked eyeshadow look” where you want to look like you are literally wearing no eyeshadow, but still want some subtle definition? Then the top right shade is perfect for sweeping in your crease. (At least on my skin tone.)
I use mine nearly everyday. I love it that much.
That’s all for today!
