The subject of houseguests presents an interesting conundrum to us millennials.

Our ever shrinking starter incomes, as well as the conscious choice to live minimally in smaller spaces makes it much more difficult for us to open our homes to guests. But that doesn’t stop us from trying, now does it!

Since moving into my little apartment (all 515 square feet of it), I have hosted overnight guests several times. Each time, I picked up a few more tricks on how to make the experience enjoyable for my guests, as well as for myself and my boyfriend.

With only one bedroom and one bathroom, I had to figure out ways to share space to ensure everybody has room for their belongings and enough privacy. On top of that, I wanted to make sure that my guests beauty and hygiene needs were taken care of as if they were in a place of their own.

Keep reading to see what I do before and during my guests’ stay. See all of the beauty, toiletry, and comfort items that I always keep on hand for making my guests’ stay as comfy as possible, whether they are nomadic travelers or parents visiting for a weekend.

Beauty is a lifestyle, not a procedure. By helping others to feel beautiful with great company, soothing products, and a peaceful environment, you’ll turn the tide on yourself, and you’ll feel the same.

Let’s get started!

I am the queen of bad habits. This is how to live your best life by ditching those toxic habits.

If you’ve ever searched for a downside to that routine life, this is it. I thrive on routines. Most of the time routines are great for making sure everything gets done in an orderly fashion, just how I like it. Unfortunately, sometimes we get so comfortable in our routines that we don’t notice they aren’t actually serving us anymore. Or maybe they never did in the first place.

These toxic habits were all born out of routines with the best intentions. All I wanted was to get more done in a day, to do more in life, and to be more “productive” person, whatever that even means anymore. This is what happens when you allow your quest for business perfection go too far. It took me a while, but I eventually realized that these 10 toxic habits weren’t doing me any favors, and I promised myself I’d make a change.

Do you recognize any of these behaviors in your life?

6 Areas in Your Home to Declutter TODAY (Living the minimalist lifestyle in 2019!)

declutter your home

So you’ve decided to declutter your home. But are you ready to do the work?

Near the end of 2018, I prepared to pack up the contents of my 500 square foot apartment and move to a 2300 square foot house. Sounds like a no brainer, right?

“C’mon stuff, we’re all moving!” *Yells and fist pumps and hip thrusts to get all my inanimate objects excited.* I imagined packing being a breeze to be accomplished in one evening along with a glass of ice wine. I was wrong.

I was actually horrified at what I dug up out of my cabinets, closet, and sneaky “storage spaces” I had hidden away over four years of living in my apartment. Needless to say, packing did not encompass one relaxing evening with one glass of ice wine. Try a whole week and a Costco-size bottle of wine.

Wait, if I unknowingly accumulated this much stuff in 500 square feet, imagine what I could do in a whole house…

And so started my quest to live a more minimal lifestyle. That apartment was a learning experience in so many ways, and my lesson in “stuff management” is a big one. I vowed to never let items into my new home that I wasn’t absolutely in love with, and also to get rid of things that no longer served me.

After lots of trial and error and mistakes and successes, these are the places that I firmly believe should be tackled first on your when decluttering your home. Seriously, just getting these spots in order will make you feel like you are in a whole new home!
