I can’t think of a product nearly has hyped as Champagne Pop. Can you?
Let me just start by saying this. I’ve never been one to run out and buy the newest limited edition collaboration product just because I like the YouTuber or blogger. Sure, I like supporting them, but I always make decision based on what I think I’ll use, rather than where my money is going.
You know what I mean?
That being said, Jaclyn, I love you, but this review has nothing to do with you. As it should be.

Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill and Becca Cosmetics
Jaclyn Hill began hinting about this collaboration the the early months of 2015. By the time it was released in early summer 2015, I could hardly contain myself.
Available exclusively at Sephora
Currently, Champagne Pop is sold exclusively at Sephora. It is not available at Ulta, BeccaCosmetics.com, or any other retailer where you can find Becca products. This isn’t an issue for be, because I shop mainly at Sephora anyway, (gotta keep that VIB Rouge status!) but it may be an issue to those who prefer another store or loyalty program.
Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed costs $38.00 USD at the time of this writing. (Update- As of 9/9/16 the price is still the same, though I don’t doubt that it will creep up in the not too distant future.)
Becca released Champagne Pop as a limited edition offering, but it did so well, it is now a permanent part of their collection.

Interesting packaging, not that that’s important
Let’s talk about the least important aspect of the product, the box. I know, the outer box does not matter once you open it and toss it, but when I’m spending $38.00 on a slightly unnecessary product, I expect everything to be pretty perfect.
I suppose it’s a matter of personal preference, but I’m not a fan of the “champagne bubbles” emblazoned on the box. To me, it looks like someone left the box out in the rain and it got water damaged. Not my favorite, but moving on.
The actual compact mimics Becca’s usual look, which my boyfriend thinks looks like a shower drain plug. Lovely.
The compact contains 0.28 oz of product, the same as all the other shades of Shimmering Skin Perfectors. I’m happy that the Becca is treating this like a real product release, and not just an overpriced little sample with a big name attached to it.
Champagne Pop shade is actually quite unique, and that’s a good thing
There isn’t too much leeway when it comes to highlighters. Most highlighters fall into one of three categories, gold, pink, or white. While champagne sounds like a wonderful color for highlighter, many products with that name tended to lean too far gold.
Personally, I avoid gold highlighters because they make my already yellow-toned skin look jaundiced, to be quite honest. On the other hand, I feel like pinks clash with my skin. Because of this, I hardly wore highlighters because I could never find the right shade that looked like a natural glow, rather than a stripe of Halloween makeup across my cheekbone.
Champagne Pop combines the brightness of pink the warmth of gold to create a peach shade that looks great on my difficult-to-match skin tone.
It’s beyond me why more peachy-toned highlighters do not exist. However, Champagne Pop uses that to its advantage and fills quite a large hole in the highlighter market.
Claims to look amazing on every skin tone
One of Jaclyn Hill’s main selling points for Champagne Pop is the claim that the shade looks perfect on every skin tone. Let’s break this down.
Two basic reason exist as to why a highlighter shade wouldn’t work. Firstly, the shade may clash with your skin tone, like how pinks look off on my skin. Secondly, the shade may be too dark or too light, and therefore looking like a dirty smudge or a stripe of tin foil on the cheeks. None of these scenarios are cute.
In terms of the first scenario, I think Champagne Pop is great. The tone blends just the right amounts of brightness and warmth, so it blends beautifully into many skin tones. (I say many because obviously, I haven’t tested it on every skin tone out there.) It’s just a great neutral that doesn’t clash whether you have yellow undertones, pink undertones, or are somewhere in the middle.
On the other hand, I don’t think it’s really possible for a highlighter shade to be the right depth for all skin tones. A highlighter needs to be lighter and brighter than your skin tone, but not so light that it doesn’t blend in seamlessly.
Obviously, the perfect shade will be different for everyone depending on how light or deep their skin is. Champagne Pop works for many skin tones, but it may be slightly too dark for the lightest skin tones.
The same Becca formula we know and love
The formula is the same as the rest of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors.
The product comes in pressed powder form, and has a velvety-smooth feel to the touch. It doesn’t feel creamy, though this is a good thing, in my opinion, because you don’t want your highlighter going on too pigmented.
This isn’t to say that Champagne Pop is un-pigmented! I find that the formula’s dryness actually allows the pigment to flutter and spread much more evenly than a thicker, creamy formula would allow.
However, because it’s so soft, it is fragile and prone to cracking. Personally, I haven’t experienced any breakage. To be fair, I purchased mine in-store, I’ve never dropped it, and I’ve never taken it traveling. Still, plenty of stories exist online if you’d like to check them out.
Wearability depends on what you personally deem “wearable”
Champagne Pop (all of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors, actually,) are pretty intense highlights. While you can apply the product veeerry lightly and achieve a somewhat subtle look, this isn’t a natural product by any means.
Basically, you’ll definitely look like you’re wearing highlighter. Obviously, I love highlighter, so I’m totally on board with this. However, it may not be the look everyone is going for.
If you are looking for a more natural “lit from within” kind of highlight, I recommend trying the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder.
Holds up well for an entire day of wear
I’ve heard mixed reviews on Champagne Pop’s longevity on the skin. Some people say it lasts all day, and others complain it disappears in minutes.
I notice that the color does fade throughout the day, but it does so very gracefully. It starts out rather strong when you first apply, but by afternoon, it fades to a more subtle glow. While lighter, it is by no means nonexistent; it still looks like a highlighter.
I haven’t worn it so long as to give it enough time to completely dissolve into thin air, because I assume that would take quite a long time. It doesn’t disappear that fast.
UPDATE: Champagne Pop line expands!
Apparently the Champagne Pop brand is doing so well, Becca and Jaclyn Hill have decided to expand the collection.
Now, Champagne Pop comes in both the poured and liquid versions of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors.
Also, several palettes have been released. While these all claim to be limited edition, some (mainly the blush duo) have been around for quite a while.

Strikes the perfect balance between “special occasion” and “everyday wear”
For me, Champagne Pop is everything I want in a highlighter. The shade is perfect for my skin tone, as it gives just the right amount of contrast and shine, without looking like an obnoxious stripe. I suspect many other skin tones will mirror my sentiment.
Also, I feel like we can’t expect such a delicate product to remain bulletproof throughout the day, so I don’t mind the fading. Although, I do appreciate that when the color does begin fading, it does so in a way that is never patchy or clumpy. i.e. You’re not left with unceremonious glitter patches on your cheeks.
It’s a great product, and I think it’ll be an awesome addition to your collection.
