I know you’re busy. And I know you’re constantly moving. I’m right there with you.
When I’m on the go, I am constantly trying to find products that serve multiple purposes. This way, I can save space in my suitcase, save time packing, and save time juggling ten million different products on a tiny hotel sink counter.
Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but it sure feels that way when you’re sharing a bathroom the size of microwave with someone else in the room, (whoever that may be.)
Argan oil benefits stretch much farther than simply moisturizing your skin. It can pretty much take care of your entire beauty routine, from bathing, to primping, to first aid. No joke. It’s amazing.

A few (of many) Argan oil benefits
In addition to it’s naturally moisturizing properties, (since it is an oil,) Argan oil contains plenty of Vitamin E, as well as many fatty acids that not only hydrate your body, but also help protect against many common ailments.
For more information, you can check out a comprehensive infographic on the different chemicals here.
To summarize, overall benefits of Argan oil include decreased risk of certain cancers, lowered blood pressure, UV radiation protection, decreased bone degeneration, and not to mention the stellar anti-aging properties. Basically, Argan oil benefits not only your appearance, but your overall health too.
What to look for when selecting your Argan oil
Argan oil comes in many different forms. Some are sold in oil form, while others are blended to create Argan oil shampoos, moisturizers, granola bars (kidding), and more. Purchasing a Argan oil infused product seems convenient, but you never really know what you are getting. With today’s cryptic labeling, it’s almost impossible to tell the quality of the Argan oil product. It will almost never tell you where the Argan oil came from, or even exactly how much of the real stuff is in there.
There are several things to look for when purchasing your Argan oil.
- Check the ingredient list. Ensure it includes 100% pure Argan oil and nothing else.
- Check where your oil originated. The most beneficial Argan oil comes from Morocco.
- Though this isn’t crucial, the USDA Organic label is always something good to look out for.
- Ensure that the oil is packaged in a dark colored glass bottle. Argan oil is fragile, and it needs to be kept cool and away from as much light as possible. Light colored and/or plastic bottles are signs of low quality oils.
I purchased this PURA D’OR Argan oil on Amazon, for around $12.00. (At the time of this post, the price has gone up to $21.84, so the price does fluctuate. However there are numerous good options to choose from.)
11 clever ways to use Argan oil when you’re on the go
This is in no way a comprehensive list of everything that can be done using Argan oil. But these are my favorites that help make my travels and non-travels smooth and silky, literally.
Rehydrate your face after a long day of traveling
Thanks to products such as Josie Maran’s (highly overpriced, I might add,) Argan oil, we all know that Argan oil makes a great facial oil. Take advantage of the anti-aging and UV protective properties and apply a bit of Argan oil on your face before or after your usual moisturizer. Don’t worry about becoming too oily- Argan oil absorbs beautifully, and can actually help regulate your skin’s sebum production over time.
If you’re feeling extra dry, for example, when on an airplane, simply take a small dab of Argan oil and rub between your fingers to disperse. Then, pat gently onto dry areas such as around your mouth or your under eyes. This keeps your skin balanced and happy when in transit.
Add a few drops to your bath for a rejuvenating soak
Adding Argan oil benefits to your bath replenishes not only your face, but your mind and body as well. The Prostaglandin and Phytosterols in Argan oil are anti-inflammatories, plus the Squalene helps to excrete toxins from the body. Not to mention, having a warm, soothing bath after a long day is nothing to complain about either.
Mix with sugar for an instant on-the-go exfoliator
If you’re feeling adventurous, why not make your own scrub? Mix a few drops of Argan oil with a couple of sugar packets from the hotel coffee station, or the local Starbucks, (shhhh, don’t tell.) Use this gentle, natural scrub all over your body for a refreshing clean that replaces nasty chemicals with awesome Argan oil benefits.
Use in place of shaving cream for silky smooth skin
When I pack these days, I don’t even bother packing shaving cream anymore. I just use my Argan oil. For a perfect shaving experience, simply rub a few drops of Argan oil over the areas you’d like to shave. If you need a bit more lather, add some soap or body wash to the mix to create a silky, cream-like texture.
Note- I do recommend keeping a separate container for this to avoid cross-contamination, and to keep your Argan oil from becoming water-logged and gross.
Bonus: If you happen to get a razor burn, Argan oil is great for that too. Simply apply over the affected area to soothe and heal.
Dab over any breakouts as an emergency spot treatment
When you’re on the go is the worst time to get a breakout, yet it always happens. It’s just life. (And stress, and dry, germy airplane air, but that’s another story.) As mentioned, some of the main Argan oil benefits have to do with anti-inflammatory properties. And what is a pimple? A pain-in-the-butt inflammation.
Instead of using toothpaste, which can be irritating to your skin, try dabbing Argan oil on your breakouts to reduce inflammation and also help prevent scarring.
Moisturize your cuticles and brittle nails
Hand cream is a luxury that we don’t always have space to time for. It’s bulky, we need to use quite a lot of it, and sometimes they can leave your hands greasy and useless for the better part of an hour. Save space by ditching the hand cream tube and use Argan oil instead. Much less product is necessary thanks to its potency. Plus, it absorbs super fast, so you can be back to business quickly and efficiently.
Why not just apply it as an allover moisturizer?
After all of those, this one is pretty obvious. Leave your huge body butter tub at home, and instead, use Argan oil as a daily moisturizer. You’ll get all the same benefits of regular moisturizer, plus all the benefits of pure, natural goodness.
Go for Argan oil as the ultimate multi-purpose hair product
Instead of packing a salon’s worth of hair products, why not use just one natural product for everything? Apply a few drops of Argan oil to damp hair and gently comb through for easily manageable hair. I like to apply a few more drops before heat styling as a natural heat protectant. To finish off the look, rub just a drop or two between your hands and smooth over you hair’s surface to tame flyaway and prevent frizz from happening.
Even if you have a greasy scalp, do not fear! Just like on your face, your scalp will readjust the amount of oils it produce.
Relieve those cracked, tired, battered, on-the-go feet
Your feet are made for walking, but maybe not this much. With our jet-setting lifestyles, (in heels, oftentimes!) our feet really take a beating. Leverage the anti-inflammatory and moisturizing Argan oil benefits by giving yourself a sweet foot massage. Apply the oil generously to your hands, and go to town. Afterwards, slip on a pair of thick, cozy socks and let the Argon oil work its magic overnight. Do this a couple of nights per week, and you’ll never worry about crackly feet again.
Apply to cuts to lessen the formation of scars
Argan oil is high in Vitamin E, which means it is awesome for healing skin ailments. Not to keep mentioning the same things over and over, but those anti-inflammatory properties are lovely things!
I’m super clumsy, and I always manage to cut myself somehow when I’m on the go. I travel light as much as possible, so a tube of Neosporin doesn’t always make the cut. (Haha, pun accepted.) To help heal the cut faster and prevent ugly scarring, apply a small amount of Argan oil to the area before covering with a bandage.
Enhance the benefits of your usual skincare
Finally, just because you have your skincare routine down pat, it doesn’t mean you have no room for some fabulous Argan oil benefits. We already talked about using Argan oil as a moisturizer, but did you know you can also mix it with your toner for an extra vitamin boost? Simply add a drop to your toner-soaked cotton pad, and do your usual thing. I’ve found that it’s also a great addition to your under eye care, as it is moisturizing without being greasy so it doesn’t make my concealer slide around.
Argan oil is shown to reduce signs of premature aging, (which often why we perform such elaborate skincare routines anyway,) plus it will lessen the harshness of alcohol based toners on your skin.
Few products out there conquer as many causes as Argan oil
Whether you’re heading out on a business trip, an adventure into the wilderness, or simply chilling at home, the wonders of Argan oil are undeniable.
Keeping just a small amount of Argan oil benefits everything from your skin, to your hair, to your nails, to your mind. In addition to being super hydrating and soothing, it also boasts medicinal and anti-cancerous properties. What’s not to love?
Next time you’ll be away from home, pack a healthy amount of Argan oil with you, and leave some of your other products behind. Don’t worry, it’s not a permanent change, so what do you have to lose? If living healthier, and saving time and space are on your agenda, then you’ll definitely want to try this out!
