Is there anything more annoying than spending all that time to look cute, only to have your makeup melt off your face at the first sign of moisture?
*Cue those awful memories flooding in…*
I grew up in a very, very rainy place. It poured basically every other day, but unfortunately, I was still required to crawl out of bed and drag myself to school. Which, may I add, was spread out among about 20 buildings with almost no covered walkways to be found. (I mean, this is Hawaii after all- it’s tropical and beautiful all the time, right? Riiight.)
The point is there exists tons of reasons why moisture-proof makeup is a must. Whether you live in a perpetual rainstorm, enjoy exercising but still want to look cute, work super long hours, or want to go swimming on the first date, this makeup is made for you!
Keep on reading to see my top picks for the best sweat-proof, water-proof, exercise-proof, life-proof makeup. Let’s get started!
*UPDATED: New products have been released since this post was originally published. In order to keep this info current and super helpful, I have changed some of my top sweat proof makeup picks to keep up with the times. I plan on updating consistently as new products are released!
Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation // This 3-in1 foundation is a primer, foundation and concealer in one- pretty amazing! It provides awesome, long-lasting coverage that stays put even when your face is completely drenched.
Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer // This concealer is super potent. A little goes a long way to conceal blemishes and under eye circles, and it really grabs onto your skin so it doesn’t disappear at the first sign of sweat or water.
Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder // I think the name says it all with this one! This fine, loose powder locks all your cream products in place and doesn’t let go. I use this on especially long days when I need my makeup looking flawless under not-so-favorable conditions.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush // Tarte doesn’t claim their blush is waterproof, but the color definitely holds it own against my slick skin. I used this a lot blush often while I attended college in a rainy town, and I never had blush streaks running down my cheeks. All of the colors I’ve tried work equally well, so I say go for your favorite!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer // This is the only bronzer I’ve found that makes such a bold claim. I’ve galloped through the rain in this bronzer, did sweaty yoga in this bronzer, and I’ve even fallen into a hot tub in this bronzer, and there it remained, still looking good. Two thumbs up from me!
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops // I like liquid highlighter for long-wear scenarios because I feel like they cling better than any powder highlight I’ve ever tried. The shimmer in the Custom Enhancer drops is so super fine, it’s almost undetectable when applied sparingly. Or you can build it up and make sure your cheeks are the highlight of the party. … Get it?
NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer // Similar to my favorite Nars Smudge Proof eyeshadow primer, but costs way less. I apply this liberally all over my eye area, sometimes even over my eyebrows. I let it set, and then build my makeup looks on top of this super sturdy foundation.
Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Define + Fill Duo // You’ve heard me talk about this one before. I love it because the pencil is on the drier side so it doesn’t get smudgy, and it comes with a built-in brow powder to go over the pencil. As a pair, they’re basically bulletproof.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel // This brow gel leaves your brows delightfully crispy out of water, but who knew it remains so robust even when up against makeup’s greatest enemy? Surprisingly, it takes a lot of water to break this stuff down. If you really need to keep your brow hairs in place, I’d make the splurge.
MAC Pro Longer Paint Pot // These are still my go-to natural eyeshadows for traveling! So easy to apply, (just use your fingers,) and once they’re on, the color doesn’t budge. All the colors are great, but I am definitely partial to Layin’ Low.
Milk Makeup Eye Pigment // If you need some shimmer in your life, Milk Makeup has you covered again! These liquid pigment eyeshadows are super easy to handle thanks to the “squeeze-y tube,” and blend beautifully. They dry down to a foil-like finish and they don’t move.
NYX Epic Ink Liner // A great find at the drugstore! I was surprised that this liner actually stuck to my lids even after a day sweating my face off at an all-day summer festival in the park. Not a smudge in sight, so I definitely recommend it; it’s tough.
L’Oréal Voluminous Volume Building Waterproof Mascara // I wore this mascara basically every day of high school. Even when my P.E. teacher’s idea of a lesson was having us tread water in the freezing pool for 45 minutes straight. If it can stand up to that, it can stand up to anything.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks // The only drugstore liquid lipstick I’ve found that is worth it’s salt. This stuff stays on. I love that the color selection offers basically everything you could want for everyday looks, evening looks, Halloween looks, and everything in between!
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray // If there’s one magical product that has your back despite your questionable makeup decision, it’s Urban Decay All Nighter. A few spritzes of this works like super glue for your makeup. It practically turns you into a mannequin face, and I’m not mad about that.
That’s all for today!
