Highlighters can make or break your makeup look. So, of course, you want only the best.
High-end highlighters make gorgeous cheekbone accessories. But those prices? Not so much.
Drugstore highlighters have come a long way. I remember a time not so long ago when just about every drugstore highlighter was a dull, chalky mess. But drugstore makeup brands have really stepped up their games recently and provided us with plenty of awesome options, no matter what type of highlighter you enjoy.
These are my top picks for the best highlighters currently at the drugstore!
*UPDATED: New highlighters have been released since this post was originally published. In order to keep this info current and super helpful, I have changed some of my top drugstore highlighter picks to keep up with the times. I plan on updating consistently as new products are released!

e.l.f. Bite Size Face Duo
My e.l.f. Bite Size Face Duo in White Peach has been my favorite thing lately. The corresponding highlighter and blush powders are smooth and pigmented, and it is easy to customize what kind of look you are feeling that day. For a more dramatic contoured look, I’ll wear the blush and highlighter separately where each product typically sits. For a natural glowy look, I mix the two together and blend the mixture onto my cheeks, drag it up to my temples, and perhaps dust a little on my nose, too. I can’t wait to travel with this. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Milani Baked Highlighter
Super glitzy highlighters get all the attention, and more subtle highlighters either get pushed to the wayside or unfairly labeled as inferior. This champagne-toned highlighter is on the softer side, perfect for a natural glow that doesn’t look overdone. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter
This one is really fun to play with! I like having it around for days when I feel like doing finger makeup. (Those days come more often than you would think.) I tap this onto my cheekbones for a dewy sheen, but it’s buildable into the strobe-osphere, too. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder
Wet N Wild makes many highly pigmented powder products, and this highlighter is no exception. If you want a blinding highlight at a drugstore makeup price, then this is a great option for you! It comes in several unique shades, so you’ll likely find one that perfectly flatters your skin tone. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Revlon SkinLights Prismatic Highlighter
I know, this highlighter looks a bit unattractive in the packaging, and it doesn’t get much better when you stare directly into the pan, but don’t be discouraged! When applied, the powder seems to melt into your skin. What looked like chunky glitter on the brush melts into the finest of shimmers. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer
My favorite liquid highlighter from the drugstore. I apply this under my foundation when I want some extra glow from within. It never gets greasy or breaks down my foundation. It shows through just enough so everyone will notice a difference, but not know what it is. Which means you can deny it. Shhh, it’ll be our secret. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Flower Beauty Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette
I typically stay away from highlighter palettes because they always seem to include at lease one or two shades that I’ll never wear. It feels wasteful and I don’t like it. However, this highlighter trio contains three shades that are different, yet similar. None of the shades are too “out there”, yet they are different enough so they look distinct on your skin. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Revolution Pro Lustre Highlighter
It’s a good highlighting formula, don’t get me wrong. But can we just look at this packaging?! Isn’t it one of the prettiest products you’ve ever seen? I almost want to buy it just to set it on my vanity. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Maybelline FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter
If you want something extra AF, then Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter is right up your alley. This formula is shiny. Like afternoon sun reflecting off a fancy glass high-rise, shiny. I love it. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter
A cult classic for a reason! This non-glittery highlighter is subtle and perfect for everyday wear. The neutral beige color blends to a natural sheen on most skin tones, and never looks harsh. I would say that this is the closest product to a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light on this list. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS

HONORABLE MENTION: Milani Stellar Lights Highlighter Palette
This is a good option for an all-in-one natural makeup look. The shades are buildable, which means you can use them all over your face and eyes. I can also achieve a frosty, blinding highlight, or a subtle bronzy blush topper. The first shade is reminiscent of Champagne Pop by Becca, and that’s always a good thing. | ⇢ READ REVIEWS
