Are your lips feeling flaky and angry right now? Is it because you’re wearing your favorite dry lipstick? Be honest.
It’s totally okay if you are, but I have something you may like.
Once upon a time, I believed the old mantra, “Beauty is pain.” It worked while on the drive to the mall to get my ears pierced for the first time, but I’ve come to realize that doesn’t have to be the case.
You don’t have to suffer with dry, cracked, and itchy lips all winter in order to look polished. Matte liquid lipsticks aren’t the only way to look good, and pigment-less balms aren’t the only way to feel moisturized.
You can have both in on gorgeous product.
We’re talking about Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, and why I think they’re the PERFECT lipstick to help you survive the winter, and look good doing it!
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks come in a ton of shades
#Realtalk- What’s the absolute most frustrating thing about lipstick? For me, it’s when I find a formula that I love, but none of the colors work for me. Or when I discover the most beautiful color, but then the formula is atrocious.
Either way, it’s terrible. Why can’t I find the perfect color in the perfect formula?! Is that too much to ask?!
That may have been the case in the past, but not anymore! I’ve finally found what I think is the best formula of lipstick out there, and on top of that, it comes in a ton of awesome shades.
As of the writing of this post, Bite Beauty offers 44 shades to everyone, plus one VIB Rouge exclusive shade, called Rouge Berry. New shades are constantly being added, and you can count on me updating this post when I get my hands on some new colors!
The shade range includes basically every color you could ever want, from pinky nudes, to deep reds and purples, to bright oranges and straight-up browns, and all the way to a navy blue and forest green. If you want it, they’ve got it.

Let’s talk about the price
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks cost $26.00 USD for 0.15 oz/4.35 g of product. For comparison, the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks cost $17.00 USD for 0.11 oz of product, while Nars Audacious Lipsticks cost $34.00 USD 0.14 oz.
Case in point, it’s definitely possible to get less expensive “high-end” lipsticks, but I believe Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks are reasonably priced for what you’re getting.

Healthy formula + ingredients
If you’ve heard about Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks at all, then you probably already know this- the lipsticks are so no natural, you can eat them.
I wouldn’t recommend trying it, but the ingredients included are all food-grade oils, pigments, and fragrances, many of which are organic.
It sure makes you wonder what the heck is in all those other lipsticks you apply and then consume by lunchtime.
If you worry about what kinds of chemicals you’re ingesting thanks to regular lipsticks, then Bite beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks will ease your mind. Happily apply knowing that you aren’t putting anything nasty into your body for the same of colored lips.

Refreshing & citrus-y scent
Thanks to all those natural ingredients, the scent of these lipsticks is divine. They give off a fresh, orangy scent that really wakes up the senses. And you can enjoy the scent knowing that it is not some fake chemical created in a lab to trick your brain into thinking it is smelling something nice. (Yup, that’s really how it works.) Or worse, a tricky compound derived from a beetle’s arse, also deceptively fooling your brain. Yuck…
Just another reason why I find these absolutely perfect for winter time. Who wouldn’t want a bright and citrusy pick-me-up when the weather is anything but bright and fruity? Hey, anything helps, right?

Unbelievably moisturizing and comfy
Now, that all great stuff, but what about the most annoying, and the most difficult to remedy winter problem? You know what I’m talking about- dry, cracking lips.
Winter weather wreaks havoc on our lips. The super thin skin lives at the mercy of the cold, wind, and whatever products we happen to apply.
Here’s the dilemma- lip products often only provide only one benefit, either moisture and protection, or a beautifully polished look.
Matte liquid lipsticks such as Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks look awesome in the winter, but they’re just so drying and treacherous to wear when your lips are already suffering. On the other hand, you could go with the ever-lifesaving Aquaphor. Those lips will be happy as a puppy in a mud puddle, though your overall look won’t be nearly as impactful.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks feel like lip balm. No joke.
Wearing it keeps my lips well hydrated and happy. But in case I do require a bit more, I can layer my Aquaphor underneath no problem.

But what about the pigmentation?
Don’t you worry, Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks aren’t playing around when it comes to color!
I mean, take a look at those swatches above. All of those are just one swipe on my arm. Look at those reds! The lighter colors build up well for even more intensity.
Some lipsticks really leave you wanting more in terms of color, but this is not one of them.

Sticks to your lips — in a good way!
With our super busy and on-the-go lives, lasting power has stampeded to the forefront of demands on basically any makeup product, but especially lipsticks. We want to apply and forget about it for hours. ‘Aint nobody got time for constantly babysitting their lipstick.
I don’t know what it is, but this formula really clings to your lips. It doesn’t feel sticky or thick at all, yet the color hangs on for dear life.
For me, regular lipsticks will wear off in a couple of hours after nothing but a few sips through a straw and some talking. But not these. I can drink from a mug, eat a light meal, and have a yakking fest, and the lipstick remains visible.
Granted, it’s not perfect, and I probably would reapply anyway, but enough color definitely remains so if you couldn’t reapply at the moment, you’d still have enough color left to just re-blend and go on with your day.

Highly pigmented equals beautiful full coverage
The high pigmentation and creamy consistency make it easy to achieve the exact look you’re going for. Some days, I like a full coverage, and that look is easily attainable with any of these colors.
Application tip: Apply the lipstick straight from the tube, staying just inside your lip line. Then, take a small lip brush with no product on it and carefully drag the color outward to perfect the lip line. Once the edges look neat, pick up some lipstick from the tube onto the brush and go over the edges one more time. Voila! Instagram-worthy lips.

Apply it as a stain for a wintery-natural look
On casual days when I still want a bit of color, Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks sheer out beautifully. The options are endless!
Application method #1: Apply the color only to the center of your lips. Use a brush or your finger to blend outward so you end up with the “popsicle stained” look. Works best with the darker shades.
Application method #2: Apply a thin layer of a colorless lip balm, such as Aquaphor, all over your lips. Then, swipe a thin layer of Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick on top. Rub your lips together to blend. The result is a pretty, slightly glossy sheer finish. Beautiful.
Packaging may be an issue…
I have one problem with the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, and it’s something that I also noted in my review of the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons. It’s the dark gray packaging.
I’m not saying the packaging feels low quality or anything, because it definitely does not. The plastic feels sturdy and velvety to the touch, and the caps snap on securely.
The problem is that all of the shades come in identical packaging. The only way to tell the shades apart is by reading the name off the little sticker on the bottom of the tube. Unless you keep them in a very strict, orderly fashion, (and you’ve memorized it,) chances are you’ll be doing some fishing until you find the specific shade you’re looking for.
Plus they don’t look like a beautiful pink-red-purple rainbow when displayed on your vanity. And that’s half the fun.
Just something to think about.
That’s all for today!
