Spring makeup is sort of like expecting your dog to start walking on two legs- it’s possible, but it takes some effort to get it right.
Okay, maybe it’s not that hard, but spring makeup, in my opinion, commands the most thought and effort out of all the makeup seasons.
Why? Well, for one thing, the weather is unpredictable. One day can be summery and warm, and the next day will have you wondering if winter ever really left.
And then, there’s the issue of colors. You want to start adding more color into your makeup wardrobe, but you worry it’ll be too much, or that you won’t have any surprises left for summer.
Today, I’m taking you on a tour of my Spring Makeup Stash. These are the staple products that I’m keeping handy and accessible for the season. When I inevitably want just a super simple makeup look, these are the products I’m reaching for.
Yet when I feel like glamming it up, I can easily add more products to spice up my look.
Read on to take a sneak peek inside my Spring Makeup Stash!
Becca Backlight Filter Face Primer
I enjoy highlighting primers at all times of the year, but something about using one in the springtime just feels extra special. It’s like bringing that whole “spring awakening” vibe to life.
I received a sample of Becca’s primer from Sephora, and so far I’m really liking it. It adds a beautiful glow under makeup without making my makeup feel too heavy. It doesn’t have any oil controlling or pore filling properties, but if you just want to give your skin a slight glow with a natural blurring effect, then this is a great product to try!

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream
I’ve talked about this one before, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites. It’s not too heavy, yet still provides decent coverage, not to mention the SPF 50! It provides some moisture, but not so much that my combo skin freaks out or breaks down into a greasy mess my mid-day. It plays well with my favorite setting powders, which it important for me.
CC creams make great transitional products from winter to spring because your skin probably still needs moisture, yet you’re probably also starting to need more SPF too.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Maybelline makes the best concealers at the drugstore, in my opinion. Fit Me concealer feels almost nonexistent on the skin as it’s so blendable and light, yet it provides a nice amount of coverage. It never looks cakey even when set with powder, so it’s basically foolproof.
Granted, there are much fuller coverage concealers out there, but I like when the coverage level of my concealer matches my foundation. In other words, I wouldn’t wear a super heavy concealer with an ultra-sheer foundation- to me it just wouldn’t look right.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
Speaking of my favorite powder, this is it. I know I talk about this one like, every day, but it just works so well for keeping my oily forehead under control.
I use a smallish blush brush to pat the powder on just where I need it, and then I use a larger powder brush to give my entire face a light dusting. It keeps me matte for hours, and plays well later in the day when I need to blot and perhaps touch-up with a bit more powder.

NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in Sunny
By the time winter is over, I’ve had it with the shadowy contouring, and all I want is to start looking like I’m spending every weekend at the beach again. Buuuut I also don’t want to look like I’m trying too hard, especially since I don’t use self tanner.
This NYC bronzer is pretty light in color and pigmentation. For people with lighter skin tones, this makes it perfect for those times when you want just a bit of color, but don’t want to go overboard. It’s also completely matte, which is nice, as you can control the amount of shimmer using a highlighter.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
Okay, I pretty much use this thing year round, but I especially love it for spring because of the shade Radiant Light. (Pictured below, far right of palette.)
The lightly bronzy powder gives a beautiful warm glow to the skin without looking like an obvious bronzer or highlighter. It’s nearly undetectable, leaving you with the most naturally gorgeous skin.

Anastasia Dipbrow in Dark Brown
I really enjoy bolder eyebrows (paired with more natural eyeshadow) in the springtime, and brow pomades are perfect for that.
Anastasia Dipbrow goes on smoothly, it’s beautifully pigmented, and not to mention I’ve had the same tub for nearly two years and the stuff still hasn’t dried out on me.

Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
You also may be totally rolling your eyes at this one, but I just can’t give it a rest. Out of all my eyeshadow primers, this one is my tried-and-true primer BFF that never let’s me down.
The lightweight, clear formula creates a smoothes my eyelid skin and magically controls oil all day, but it doesn’t add any “heaviness” to my eyeshadow, if that makes sense. I enjoy really light eyeshadow looks in spring, and so I want my eyelids to not look like they have a heavy layer of makeup on them. I want my natural skin showing through.

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in In the Nude
In keeping with the light-themed spring makeup, I really don’t use much dark eyeliner in my waterline. Instead, I go for a nude eyeliner to help brighten my waterline and make it disappear somewhat.
Then I go in and add a bit of a shadow under there with a matte brown eyeshadow, and it just looks so natural and pretty.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeliner in Nude Eyes
If I do feel like wearing eyeliner, I’ll typically go for a brown shade. This Shimmer Strips Trio from Physicians Formula includes three shades that can be mixed and matched depending on the look you want. There is a light champagne-taupe, a medium brown, and a deeper brown, all with a hint of shimmer.
A lot of times, I’ll use the lightest shade on the outer half of my lower lash line for some extra definition, and then blend one of the deeper shades on my upper lash line for a touch of smokiness.

Revlon Colorstay Creme Eyeshadow in Praline
This one is a new addition to my collection, and I’ve been using it non-stop. If any of these products scream “spring makeup,” it’s this one.
The shimmery, pinky-champagne color gives such a pretty glimmer to the lids without looking like you’ve piled on a ton of glitter. It’s like strobing for your eyelids.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Hunk
First, let’s talk about formulas. After a long fall and winter season dominated by matte liquid lipsticks and generally bold colors, I’m definitely looking for something lighter and funner.
The NYX Butter Lipsticks are some of my favorites because the formula is very thin, so they give an almost watercolor-like effect on the lips. They’re not opaque by any means, but the color is buildable if you want a bit more intensity. Though, I tend to keep it sheer. If you’ve got dry lips, you’ll love this one.
Hunk is a medium orchid-violet color that for some reason just makes me think of Easter eggs, so I enjoy wearing it in springtime.

E.l.f. Moisturizing Lipstick in Rosy-Go-Round
This is another lipstick I tend to only break out when I’m contemplating my spring makeup looks. It’s a somewhat bright-yet-mature pink that is ultra feminine and perfect for that transition between the cold winter and the coming warmer months.
