My Go-To Summer Makeup Look (Easy routine using lightweight products!)

My Go-To Summer Makeup Look (Easy routine using lightweight products!)

I love simple summer makeup looks. They’re kind of my thing.

Here in Hawaii, it’s basically summer all year long. Unless I want to look totally out of place, (though sometimes I don’t mind,) I like sticking to light makeup for the most part.

Lightweight foundations, neutral eyeshadows, and pops of pink blush make up my looks 90% of the time. But that doesn’t mean I wear the exact same products everyday, though. I love changing it up to keep the excitement flowing!

In this post I’m showing you what I’ve been loving for this summer. I’ve been using these products non-stop for a month now, and I can see this combo lovingly carrying me throughout the hottest months of the year.

Ready to see the summer makeup I’ve been obsessed with? Let’s get started!

My Go-To Summer Makeup Look (Easy routine using lightweight products!)

Let’s get this summer makeup look started!

Give your eyebrows some light & natural definition //

Recently I’ve been loving the look of a lighter and more natural brow. I’m using Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil Waterproof in Midnight Brown. The cool-toned brown is lighter than my natural hairs, but deep enough to provide some clean definition along the edges and shadows where my natural hairs are lacking.

Sweep on a touch of eyeshadow //

But first, prime those eyelids of yours! I’ve been testing out a new eyeshadow primer, the Sephora Beauty Amplifier Eye Primer (check back on Monday to see my review!) There’s nothing worse than greasy, melted eyeshadow in the summertime.

I created a simple, matte eyeshadow look using two shades from the Lorac PRO Palette 2. Sweep LT. BROWN all over your eyelids up to the crease. If you just want to do a super easy one-shadow look, this shade is perfect. I like to warm up the look a little, so I add a sweep of NECTAR around the edges and blend it upward.

Line your eyes with liquid eyeliner //

Draw a thin line of black liquid eyeliner just along your upper lash line. Try to get the liner as close to your lashes as possible, and fill in any spaces between lashes where your skin peeks through. I use my Jordana FabuLiner Liquid Eyeliner for this because the firm felt tip is great for getting color to fill in all the gaps.

This makes your eyes pop by creating the illusion of thicker eye lashes, but it still looks effortless minus the wing.

Prime your face with your favorite primer //

Moving on to the face, I’ve been loving the Milk Makeup Blur Stick for a super easy summer primer. I just swipe the product on straight from the stick, and it helps fill in pores and smooth out fine lines so my skin looks smooth and amazing.

I recommend using whatever type of primer suits your needs. Whether you need an oil controlling primer, a moisturizing primer, or anything else, just use a primer! It makes a bigger difference than you think.

Blend on tinted moisturizer with SPF //

If I plan on being out in the sun for an extended period of time, then I will add a separate sunscreen. But if I know I’ll be indoors most of the day, then a tinted moisturizer with SPF is enough for me.

This one from Tarte is super lightweight and provides a small amounts of sun protection. It provides light coverage, which is exactly what I want in the hotter months. I can’t stand the feeling of heavy foundation weighing my face down and melting off.

Add a minimal amount of concealer //

I do want at least a little coverage (and you probably do too,) so I go with my favorite long lasting, high coverage, lightweight concealer, Urban Decay Naked Skin in Light Neutral. Draw a couple of stripes just under your eyes without going too low on your cheeks. The goal is to keep this as minimal as possible. I blend that with my finger just to make the process a bit quicker.

Dot the concealer wherever else you need coverage, such as over blemishes or scars. Tap it in with your finger or a sponge.

Powder, bronzer & blush //

For my oily girls, you’ll probably want to set your face with powder. I know I do. I use Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent on my t-zone, and lightly over the rest of my face. Being matte is great, but summer is a great time to display your inner dewy goddess, so I to use as minimal powder as possible.

Keeping with the dewy theme, I enjoy spending this time with my shimmery bronzer. Pixi Summertime Bronzer goes on so smoothly and adds a pretty glow to your skin without making you look downright glittery.

Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for summer. The medium pink is basically the exact color of my cheeks when I get hot, so it looks very natural on me. Plus, the formula contains a really pretty golden shimmer, so I don’t even feel the need to add a separate highlighter.

Line your lips & apply pinky gloss //

I like using a “my lips but better” lipliner shade when I’m wearing a sheer gloss because it adds some much needed definition. This shade is Ulta Automatic Lip Liner in Bloom. Line the edges of your lips, and then smudge the color inward a bit to soften any harsh lines. Then, apply your favorite sheer pink lip gloss over the top. Today, I’m using Covergirl Colorlicious Gloss in Berrylicious.

Finish off your eyes with mascara //

Now let’s circle back to the eyes! I take a small amount of LT. BROWN eyeshadow and blend that along my lower lash lines for some subtle definition. Then, apply whatever mascara is currently making your lashes look incredible. L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise is totally doing it for me right now! (Don’t worry, review coming soon 😉
