Let’s open up my October Sephora Play Box and have a look at all the goodies! Shall we?
The theme this month is Complexion Companions. Aptly timed, in my opinion. The cooler weather of fall brings out all the skin issues that tend to miraculously shelve themselves in the spring and summer. I’m talking about dryness, flaky spots, itchiness, and tightness, which is in my opinion the absolute worst of all. *Nod vigorously if you agree.*
We’ve got five products to talk about today all aimed at making your fall skin look as healthy as beautiful as it does when you aren’t dealing with a terrible case of windburn. Can’t forget the perfume sample that adds the finishing touch to your pretty, dewy-skinned look.
So what do I think of Sephora’s choices this month? Let’s get started!
Filter Perfect
Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer // Starting with a primer, because of course. Right off the bat, I looove this primer. Even if it doesn’t turn out to keep my makeup on for extraordinary amounts of time, (I haven’t tested it on a long day quite yet,) I enjoy it just for what it does in the short term. This has to be the smoothest primer I have ever put on my skin, and it just feels so luxurious! The light pink tint adds a bit of brightening under your makeup, perfect for those dim fall and winder days.

Got You Covered
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in Y245 // I already know I love this foundation, and I’m stoked to have a travel-sized mini. But that’s not what I’m excited about. I don’t know if this is a coincidence, or if Sephora is just that good, but I received my exact shade match in this foundation. As in, this is the shade I buy when I head into Sephora on my own.
Oh Sephora, you know me so well.

Mist Wanted
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist // I’ve been out of the setting spray game lately, so I was very excited to receive this one. This 4-in-1 spray claims to prime, set, hydrate, and refresh your makeup. I find the formula quite moisturizing, so I think it will be perfect for helping your makeup look less dry in the colder months. It has a slight tackiness to it, which may annoy some users, but I think it helps keep everything in place so I don’t mind it too much. The product is lightly scented, but nothing too strong. Looking forward to testing it on longer days, and I’ll update on how it goes!

The Best of the Boost
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster // If you read my 6 Tips for Busy Ladies Who Suck at Skincare post, then you can probably guess how I feel about serums. Spoiler, they’re never on my wishlist. I typically don’t enjoy piling on tons of products because it makes me feel heavy and grimy. I will give this a go, nonetheless. The formula feels lightweight and not sticky upon initial testing (on my arm), but it also claims to be moisturizing thanks to hyaluronic acid and argan oil. If I can get past the laziness and get this on my face, I think it will be of great use during my annual cold(er) weather vacation.

Don’t Hate, Exfoliate
Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator // Now, this is more up my alley! I love exfoliating because it makes me feel so clean and fresh… like a new me every time I step out of the shower. If I remember correctly, I have used this exfoliator in the past and I really liked it. Because of that, I am saving this sample for my upcoming trip so I can feel extra-squeaky-clean after all those grimy theme park days.

Azur Wish
Tory Burch Bel Azur // According to Tory Burch, this is a Fresh scent with Fresh Citrus and Fruits, with key notes of Mandarin, Tuberose, and Vetiver. To be honest, I haven’t a clue what Vetiver is, and while I have heard of Tuberose, I am unsure exactly what it smells like. But who cares, because I actually really like this fragrance. It is fruity and fresh, light and feminine, and it doesn’t smell like something that would overpower any room I step into. That’s important; I want people to notice me, not my fragrance.

A little bit about Sephora Play Box
In case you didn’t already know, Sephora Play Box is a monthly beauty subscription box that costs $10.00 USD per month, (subject to local taxes.) Currently, it ships only within the United States, but I am sure Sephora is working on getting it available worldwide very soon.
Each box comes with five “official” items, plus one “bonus” item. In most cases, the bonus item is a perfume sample, but it sometimes changes month to month. You also receive a little pamphlet explaining each of the products, plus a card that you can take into your local Sephora store and redeem for 50 Beauty Insider points.
All of this comes packaged in a cute branded box, along with a little cosmetic bag. Side note: I’ve really been loving the new style of bags that have been included for the last few months. They are much roomier than other bags, so you can actually fit things in them. Plus, they’re super lightweight and perfect for packing small items when traveling.
That’s all for today!
